Day trip to the Wattagans.
The day started out very good with a down pour the night before. we all meet up at the north bound service station at around 830am. There was 4 cars from dust n dirt 11 members and 3 cars from the jackeroo club with 4 members. We headed of around 9 am and it turned out to be a great sunny day. we aired down at the entrance to the Jillby State Forest then continued on our trip into the unknown hoping to come across the only problem might be mud and water with no break downs. We traveled in for about a hour and half or more before we stopped for morning tea and to work out which track to continue on. once we got under way we had a number of options to head down for the next part of the trip some a little easy, some a touch harder and some looking simple. Well we all started heading off after our break towards the next section when me taking the tail end and doing my role to make sure everyone is with the group decided to go the simply track and what seemed easy turned out to be mud and when i started sinking in mud that’s when my trip went from ok to crap. Well as i was trying to get out of the mud, back and forth that’s when i heard a crack and thought straight away something was not right. lucky for me i had been with a group of friends that have been there and heard noises that was not sounding good. well after doing some checks and about a hour later or more we had my front drive shafts out and was travelling in rear wheel drive only. special mentioned to Mick, Lee and Steve (aka George) and Leo for all helping out some way to get me mobile again. once i was mobile we decided to head out and go home since the rest of the track was going to be a little hard for me in rear wheel drive only. well we headed out towards the way we came in and that track seemed to be more fun than the way we went in. I say most cars were lucky to get out with out no mud over or on there cars, some sections made it a little challenge for some but others needed to get help with the mud and track being slippery.we aired up around 230 pm and drove home with most getting back home a little earlier than planned but that’s the sport we do and love.when i got home i found out i broke some teeth off my crown wheel. seeing this trip didn’t go the way i was hoping it makes it now a reason to do another trip there again and hopefully get through to the end
